Peychaud's Aromatic Bitters

Peychaud's Aromatic Bitters is produced by ‘Buffalo Trace Distillery’, Frankfort, Kentucky, which is owned (and distributed) by ‘Sazerac Company’ Inc., New Orleans, Louisiana. Peychaud's Aromatic Cocktail Bitters were created by Antoine Amedee Peychaud, originally 'American Aromatic Bitter Cordial' and was marketed it as a medicinal tonic. The Peychaud family were originally French from Bordeaux, but his story really starts in 1795 when he arrives in New Orleans as a refugee in 1795, after his father was forced to flee the island of San Domingo, where his family owned a coffee plantation, after the slaves rebelled.

This bright cherry scarlet red bitters produces aromas of cherry with liquorice, aniseed, celery and orange zest. The taste is bitter sweet with anise and slight cherry, nutmeg and clove flavours, followed by a bitter ‘cherryade’ finish.
