Olive Oil
Cosenza Province, Calabria
The Sibari Plains of the Cosenza province in Calabria, between the wild pre-pollinic mountains and the Ionian beaches of the coast, is a mosaic of history, culture and agriculture.
Sybaris, at the heart of the Magna Graecia, the oldest Greek colony in the region, prospered quickly from the fertile, life-giving land; its etymological origin -“chorìon elàion”, land of the olive trees. It became a wealthy city, and its inhabitants were reputed to live voluptuous lives, hence the word sybaritic - no doubt, facilitated by the quality of the olive oil they had at easy reach.
