French Red Wine

French Red Wine

France is not only the world’s most famous wine growing country, it also takes credit for being one of the world’s oldest wine regions as well, dating back to the 6th century and pioneered many winemaking techniques and structure systems, such as the Méthode Champenoise.

The historic appeal of France’s classic wine styles provokes the often controversial concept of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) system, whereby grape varieties and winemaking techniques are stipulated for each defined area.

France and wine are synonymous with the ‘bon vivants’, and indeed the ‘sybaritic’; wines are very diverse, offering many styles.
